Love

Michael and George in Mexico

Scott, Michael and George

Most of you have probably heard but here is the story. Last weekend Michael got a call and received the news that his boss and good friend George McDaniel died in a helicopter crash in UT. The news shocked him and they hadn't been able to get in touch with the family. I wasn't home at the time James and Kara were leaving for TN that night and I was getting ready for the goodbye party. Michael was as close as family with the McDaniel's. He met George at Sol Rio and became fast friends. If Michael wasn't to be found with is brother James he was off with George somewhere. I soon found out that the words "I am in a meeting" only half the time meant he was in an actually meeting the other half meant that he and George were goofing off somewhere. George was a great friend and will sorely be missed.

It is amazing how the spirit can teach in times of tragedy and it has been working upon my heart. In the mist of this tragedy I felt extremely blessed that my husband wasn't with George this day. He usually gets taken along on these adventures but because it was Jame's last weekend in town he didn't go. I am glad I have the opportunity to tell my husband one more time that I love him and that I am grateful for all that he does for me. I am grateful for the understanding that comes with the knowledge of the gospel and for the things that I learned from George and that is LOVE to take every opportunity to Love. To love life and the adventures that it takes us on. To not only love when it is easy but when it is difficult.

Words of Wisdom! I'm glad Mike wasn't with them this weekend either. I am really sorry for the all pain and sadness that you all are feeling right now. I can not even comprehend it since I've never been in the same situation.

My heart aches for you. I remember when Jakes two best friends were killed, I hurt as he hurt and anted in anyway possible to comfort him, although sometimes I struggled to know the words to say but he said just silently being there was the best comfort I could offer. It quickly came to our realization that life can sometimes be literally short and to treasure those times with those with you love and continually create memories with them. I am so glad Michael was not creating a memory that weekend. I love you. Please let Michael know we love him and are thinking about him. I remember Jake appreciated phone calls but it was hard on him when he had to continually re-tell the story. It is not so hard know. I did not lose my best friends that day but I watched mine internally hurt for a whole and still sometimes miss them greatly.

Amy,
I am so sorry to hear about George. Thank Heavens Mike wasn't with him. We will be praying for your family and George's. Michael is lucky to have someone like you to lean on. Was anyone else killed in the crash?

Mike and Amy, I am so sorry to hear of that sad news. When mike told H.P. it was a shock to us as well. It is a nice reminder to love, like you said, even when it is hard, it seems that is the most important time. Sounds like you guys might be making a move too, let me know how that's going. Good luck with everything, if you guys go, you e=will be missed as well.

Hi Amy, I have been thinking of you and your little family lately. I was thinking I would call you, but then got stalking your blog. I am so, so sorry about George. I know how good he was to you guys - and to James and Kara. I know he will always have a place in your hearts. I've been wondering how all this will affect your future here in Idaho. How are things going? I would love to hear from you. Give me a call, or email me when you get a chance.
